CAMPUS AT A GLANCE
After short Summer break of ten days, the school reopened on 1st July, 2017. The teachers and students were enthusiastic to proceed with academic and co-curricular activities. With Half Yearly Examination due in the month of September the students were engrossed in studies and teachers helped them prepare in finest manner. Academic activities were the main issues during this month.

CELEBRATIONS
INDEPENDENCE DAY
We celebrated our Independence Day with zeal and happiness. 15th August, 2017 was a fine sunny day. Our Independence Day Celebration began with the hoisting of the National Flag by the President of SMC, Lt. Gen R M Chadha Ji. Vice President of SMC, Major Gen Shyamadas Choudhuri Ji and Manager Brig. Ranvir Singh Ji were also present on the occasion. After Flag hoisting, a squad of students presented March Past. Sonali Chauhan of Class-X and Sneha Singh of Class-VIII made speeches on Importance of Independence Day. An action song was presented by Pre-Primary students and a Rajasthani dance was performed by a group of students. The function was concluded with distribution of sweets by the President, Vice-President and Manager of the School.
The students participated in various activities/competitions held at the school as well as Inter school level.
TEACHERS’ DAY
“A Teacher is like a candle- it consumes itself to light the way for others.”
Teachers’ day occupies an important place in a school’s calendar. It is the day which is celebrated across the country to pay tribute to Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. The day marks the birthday of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice President and second President of independent India. On 5th September, we celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm. The Chief Guest on the occasion was the President SMC, Lt Gen Ravindra Mohan Chadha Ji (Retd). Also present to grace the occasion, as the Guests of Honour were Vice President of SMC, Maj Gen Shyamadas Choudhuri Ji (Retd) and Manager of the School Brig Ranvir Singh Ji (Retd). The ceremony began with the traditional lamp lighting and offering of floral garlands on the portrait of Dr. Radhakrishnan by the honourable guests and the Principal. The celebration included some programmes like group songs and speeches. On this day, the teachers as well as non-teaching staff were felicitated by the President of the school. The School Staff received gifts from the School Management as a token of appreciation. The celebration was concluded with National Anthem.
COMPETITIONS
ENGLISH SPEECH MAKING COMPETITION
An Inter House English Speech Making Competition was held in our school on 5th August, 2017. Two students from each house participated in the Competition. The topic of the speech was ‘Take pride in being Indian’. The participants prepared for the competition under the guidance of house teachers. The students stated several significant facts about India. They did not leave any stone unturned to express their thoughts. This competition brought so many things into light and added to the knowledge of the students in audience. After the competition, the names of the winners were announced. Rahul Chand (Class-X) of Subhash House secured First Position, Ritika Ramola (Class-VIII) of Nehru House secured Second position and Ayesha Rawat (Class-VII) of Subhash House secured Third position in the competition. The competition concluded with the address of Shri Manoj Joshi, Principal. In his address, the Principal highlighted the facts about ancient Indian Science and Literature and hailed rich Indian traditions and culture.
INTER SCHOOL COMPETITIONS
During Independence Day Celebration, many Literary, Sports and Cultural Competitions were held in Joshimath town, in which students from our School had participated. Our students made us proud by bringing laurels to the School in various Competitions. The details of winners are as follows:

On 15th August, our school participated in March Past and Folk Dance Competitions organized by Nagar Palika Parishad, Joshimath. In both the competitions, our School won 2nd prize.
We feel immense pleasure to publish 2nd issue of the Newsletter 2017-18. In this volume we share the news and happenings of JVM, Vishnupuram to the entire group.
