After a ten days’ summer break, the school resumed on 2nd July 2018. Everyone in the school was enthusiastic to resume work. During the month of July and September a number of activities were conducted, the description of which is as follows:





HANDWRITING AND CALLIGRAPHY ACTIVITY:-  Calligraphy is an art of forming beautiful symbols by hand and arranging them well. It’s a set of skills and techniques for positioning and inscribing words so that they show integrity, harmony and rhythm. Our Handwriting style depicts our personality traits. In view of the above, we organized an English Handwriting and Calligraphy Activity on 7th July, 2018 for the students of Class I to X. All the students participated with great zeal in the activity.


COLLAGE MAKING ACTIVITY:-A collage may sometimes include magazine and newspaper clippings, bits of coloured or handmade papers or so on. A Collage Making Activity was organized on 14th July, 2018 by the Heritage Club for the students. They were briefed about the significance of collage which is a technique of an art production, primarily used in the visual arts where the artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms, thus creating a new whole. The students brought newspapers, magazines, scissors and coloured paper etc. for the activity. They were given ample opportunity to showcase their creativity.


SKIT ACTIVITY :-  Children play an active role in saving the environment. Keeping this in view a skit on the topic “Paryavaran Chetna” was organized by the Eco Club on 14th July, 2018 for the students. The students of Eco Club had prepared the skit very well. They enacted it with the help of handmade props. It created awareness amongst the students towards environment conservation.


TEAM BUILDING ACTIVITY :-  “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”  Indeed, teamwork plays a vital role in achieving success. Keeping this in view a Team Building Activity was conducted on 14th July, 2018 by Health and Wellness Club. The students took delight in the activity.


EXTEMPORE :- A speech without preparation is called an extempore. It enables the students to think out of the box and off the feet. It is a great platform to develop communication skills and time management. So to foster the communication skills of the students an Extempore Activity was conducted on 14th July, 2018 by the Public Speaking Club. In this activity the children picked up one of the chits from the box in which topic was written and then, made a two-minute speech on the topic. Everyone tried their best to speak on the topic that they picked up from the box. 


PUZZLE TIME:- Small children love to solve the puzzles. They take great joy in forming words from the given word grid. We understand the importance of puzzle for the kids. In order to enhance their vocabulary a Puzzle Activity was conducted on 14th July, 2018 for the students of class I to III. The puzzles were given to the students which they solved joyfully and learnt a lot of new words from it.


CROSS WORD PUZZLE/QUIZ: - A cross word puzzle based on Historical events and a quiz about Film and Sports was conducted on 21st July, 2018 by the Heritage Club for the students. The students actively participated in it. They learnt many things about the past from the puzzle and gained information about film and sports.


SLOGAN WRITING: - A good slogan leaves a deep impact on the mind. It has a great message to give to a large group of people. Keeping this in view The Eco club on 21st July, 2018 organized an activity of Slogan Writing based on the theme ‘Environment’ for the students. It was amazing to see students writing various slogans about saving the Mother Nature.


GROUP DISCUSSION :- On 21st July, 2018 a group discussion activity was organized on the topic Healthy Habits for the students of Health and Wellness club.  The children enjoyed the activity a lot as every one of them got a chance to express their views on the topic.


FACE GAME :-  There is so much to learn about human body and its parts. To make the learning of body parts interesting, Public Speaking club conducted an activity called Face Game for the students. In this activity, the students had to describe functions of different body parts such as eyes, forehead, nose, lips, teeth, tongue, ears etc. The main purpose of the activity was to enable the students speak fluently while talking about body parts in an interesting way. The students took much delight in the activity.


DRAWING AND COLOURING :- On 21st July, 2018 a Drawing and Colouring Activity was conducted for class I. The students were asked to draw and colour the pictures. They all took part in this activity, enthusiastically.


TEARING AND PASTING :- Small children love to tear and paste the pictures in their note books in a creative way. So to boost up their creative talent a on 21st July, 2018 a Tearing and Pasting Activity was organized for the students of class II. They all took part actively in the activity.


GREETING CARD MAKING:- Be it birthday, Teacher’s Day, Friendship Day, Farewell Day or any other special event, students like to make beautiful greeting cards for their dear ones. In order to promote the creative talent of making pretty greeting cards, on 21st July, 2018 a Greeting Card Making Activity was conducted for the students of Class III. They made their cards nicely and decorated them beautifully.


SPELL BEE ACTIVITY:- On 28th July, 2018 an English Spell Bee Activity was conducted for the students of class IV.  Likewise, on 01 September, 2018, the activity was conducted for the students of class I to III. The activity included synonyms, antonyms, complete the spelling, form of verbs etc. It was helpful for the students as it enhanced their vocabulary and accuracy in English language.


MUSICAL CHAIR/INDOOR GAMES :- The students of Class I to III were thrilled to enjoy these activities on 28th July, 2018 in the school. Naturally, musical chair game bring joy on the faces of the little students. In view of this, a Musical Chair/Indoor Game Activity was organized for the students for boosting up their stamina and agility.




FANCY DRESS COMPETITION:-  A Fancy Dress Competition was organized on 20th July, 2018 for the students of Nursery, LKG and UKG classes. It was the most anticipated event, as it is always a pleasure to watch the toddlers dressed up as different characters and stuttering away in their speech. The students came forward displaying their vibrant costumes. The few to list out are Farmer, Soldier, Politician, Fairies, Miss World and many more. The competition brought an amiable ambience and the judges retorted with their applause. It was indeed a mesmerizing event which etched in our memory for a very long time. DRAWING AND COLOURING COMPETITON:- On 28th July, 2018 a Drawing and Colouring Competition was organized for the students of grade V to X. The theme for the painting was “Save fuel for the better environment”. The students drew and painted beautiful painting depicting the theme and relished the competition a lot.






HINDI/ENGLISH SPEECH COMPETITION:-  On 5th August 2018, an Inter-School Hindi/ English Speech competition was organized by Sri Aurobindo Society, Joshimath. The topic of the speech was ‘Sri Aurobindo’s message for the youth of India’. In this competition Ritesh Rana and Samiksha Patil, both students of class X, participated on behalf of the school. Samiksha Patil made the school proud by securing first position in English Speech Making Competition.


DRAWING AND COULOURING COMPETITON:- An Inter-School Drawing and Colouring Competition was also organized on 5th August, 2018, by Sri Aurobindo Society, Joshimath. Two students, Saroj Chauhan of class IX and Sameer Rawat of class VIII participated in the competition from the school. Sameer Rawat of class VIII stood first in the competition.


PAINTING/SPEECH/ESSAY/SWARACHIT KAVITA COMPETITON:- On the occasion of 72nd Independence Day Celebration, Speech/Essay/Swarachit Kavita Competition was held on 10th August 2018 by Nagar Palika Parishad, Joshimath. Our school participated in the competition and won prizes for the school. The list of the winners is as follows:

MARCH PAST COMPETITON:- On 15th August 2018, an Inter-School March Past Competition was organized by Nagar Palika Parishad, Joshimath. The school squad participated in it and secured first position in the competition.

The 72nd Independence Day celebration was observed with great gaiety and fervour in the school. The celebration was presided over by the President of SMC, Lt. Gen Ravi Mohan Chadha Ji and attended by Vice President SMC, Maj Gen Shyamadas Choudhary Ji, and Manager, Brig. Ranveer Singh Ji. The function began with the arrival of the guests. At first, the national flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest followed by the National Anthem. A well coordinated march past was displayed by the energetic cadets of the school. After the March Past an English speech highlighting the importance of the Independence Day was made by Arshia Pundir of class VIII. In the continuation of the events, a vibrant patriotic group dance was showcased by the little kids of pre-primary wing. In addition, a Hindi speech highlighting the significance of the day was made of Diya Bhujwan of class IX which was followed by a Punjabi folk dance performed by the girls of senior classes. Further, an inspirational speech was made by the President of the school on this special day. In his speech, the President highlighted the importance of the day and inspired everyone do to the best in every walk of their lives. The function concluded with the vote of thanks given by the Principal, Shri Manoj Joshi ji in which he congratulated everyone on the occasion and briefed everybody about the importance of self comprehension of the contents which one studies in order to become ideal persons in whatever field one goes in the future. Simultaneously, he thanked the guests for their graceful presence in the school.  At last, packets of sweets were handed to the students as well as the staff of JVM.



SWACHHTA PAKHWADA:-  From 01 September to 15th  September, 2018 the school celebrated Swachhta Pakhwada. Every day the students were made aware about the personal hygiene as well as sanitation in their surroundings. On 15th September 2018, a Swachhta campaign was conducted by the students of classes VI to X and teachers in order to make the people aware about the cleanliness in their surroundings.

Teachers’ Day is an occasion to recognize and appreciate the contributions of teachers. On 5th September, 2018, like every year, Teachers’ Day was celebrated in the school. This day remarks the birth anniversary of Dr. Saravapalli Radhakrishnan, the former President and a great teacher. The function began with the welcoming of the guests. The guests along with the Principal paid a floral tribute to the portrait of  Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. Speeches in English as well as in Hindi stating the significance of the day were made by Sakshi Rawat of Class X and  Mrs. Archana Chaudhary, PRT, respectively. The day was remembered by a group song too which was sung by a group of students in the praise of their mentors and teachers. The students, who had won prizes for the school in the competitions, were felicitated by the President, Vice President, Manager and Principal of the school by handing over them prizes. Similarly, the teachers were congratulated and given gifts for their valuable contribution to the school by the President, Vice-President and the Manager. 


HINDI DIWAS CELEBRATION :- On 14th September, 2018 Hindi Diwas was celebrated in the school. On this occasion, a special assembly was held by the students telling the importance of the day. A Hindi speech highlighting the worth of the day was made by Mr. Rajesh Nautiyal, PRT.


IMPORTANCE OF 14TH AND 18TH SEPTEMBER 2018, FOR THE SCHOOL: As the school was selected for the National Level Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar so, in this order on 14th September 2018, an NCERT team visited the school to record the evidences of cleanliness of the school.  On the other hand, on the same day, the school was awarded with the State level Swachhta Puraskar at Dehradun Uttarakhand.  On18th September 2018, the school received National Level Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar at New Delhi awarded by Ministry of Human Resource Development. The award was received by the Principal Shri Manoj Joshi ji along with the Swachhta Monitor, Sarthak Sati  from Shri Prakash Javedkar ji, Honourable Minister Human Resource Development, Govt. of India.



To evaluate academic performance of the students, exams were conducted as class tests, periodic test and Half Yearly exams. The Half Yearly Examination was conducted from 13th September 2018 to 28th September 2018.


We feel immense pleasure to publish 2nd issue of the newsletter 2018-19. In this volume we share the news and happenings of JVM, Vishnupuram to the entire group. Hope you all will relish it.
